Kenya’s First Chinese-Funded Geothermal Energy Plant to Inject 35MW Into Grid by June

Kenya’s Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has set in motion electricity generation by the country’s first Independent Power Producing company (IPP), Sosian Energy.

Sosian Menengai Geothermal Power was scheduled to start operations by September last year after the company received $48 million from China-based Zhejiang Kaishan Compressor. The funding was for the construction of a geothermal power plant on Kenya’s Menengai Crater floor.
