The bloc (made up of France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada) is not known for its interest in the developing world. However, this week’s summit is coming amid anxiety about China’s growing clout in the Global South, and early signs are that these concerns are expanding its gaze Southwards.
