WEEK IN REVIEW: Russian Military Frigate Docked in Cape Town, on the Way to Controversial Joint Military Exercises With China and South Africa

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will arrive in Beijing on Tuesday for a three-day official visit that will include a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Iran is looking to bolster ties with China amid growing concerns Beijing is prioritizing its relations with Tehran’s Persian Gulf rivals UAE and Saudi Arabia. (XINHUA)

The China Association for Disaster Prevention is calling for a halt in all deployments of Chinese rescue personnel to Turkey and Syria. With more than 79,000 people now on scene in the earthquake zones in both countries, including dozens from China, the association said it’s concerned more Chinese staff sent to the region would burden local governments. (GLOBAL TIMES)
